Accounts

  1. Download the ARISTA app (available via The App Store and Google Play)
  2. Tap the CREATE ACCOUNT button
  3. Enter a valid email address and password
  4. Check the box to agree to the ARISTA privacy policy
  5. Tap the CONTINUE button (a verification code will be sent to the email address entered above)
  6. Retrieve the verification code sent via email and enter it in the space provided
  7. Tap the VERIFY ACCOUNT button to finish the account creation process
  1. Open the ARISTA app on your mobile device
  2. From the home screen, open the Project you’d like to add the new user to (e.g., Third Street Elementary, Arturo’s Deli)
  3. Tap the Users button at the bottom of the app, then tap the “+ user” icon at the top of the screen
  4. Enter the email address of the new user and assign a Project role (Admin, Installer or Occupant), then tap SAVE

 The new user will receive an email invitation/verification code (valid for 24 hours) and be prompted to create an ARISTA account, which will automatically connect to the Project

Projects

  1. Open the ARISTA app on your mobile device
  2. From the home screen, tap the + symbol in the upper-right corner to create a new Project
  3. Enter Project details and tap SAVE
  4. The newly created Project will now display on the home screen

Areas

An Area refers to the floor or wing within a building (Project) where a set of ARISTA components will operate. This typically includes multiple rooms or sections (e.g., second floor, east wing).

  1. Open the Project you’d like to update via the ARISTA app
  2. Tap the + symbol in the upper-right corner to create a new Area
  3. Enter the Area name (e.g., first floor) and tap SAVE
  4. The newly created Area will now display within the Project

Devices

Each device (e.g., controller, sensor) may only be assigned to one Area within a Project.

  1. Tap the Area you’d like to work on
  2. Tap the “+” icon to add devices
  3. Tap SCAN
  4. A list of all visible devices will appear
    1. If a battery powered device does not appear, a quick press of the reset button will be required to initialize communications
  5. Tap on a device to select and highlight the unit
    1. To verify you are selecting the proper device you can tap WINK, this will provide a visual identifier to assure proper units are being selected.
  6. Slide the Highlighted Box to the right
  7. Tap Edit
  8. Tap the box containing the Device Name
  9. Press back arrow to clear the existing name
  10. Type in chosen name
  11. Tap SCAN (repeat process until all units are identifiable)
  12. Tap and highlight all devices to be installed
  13. Tap INSTALL DEVICES
    1. Note: You can install 1 at a time or install multiple units together
  14. After all chosen devices are installed tap DONE
  1. Open the Project > Area you’d like to update to view a list of assigned devices
  2. Tap on the device you’d like to rename (this opens a configuration page)
    1. Tap WINK, if needed, to verify the device’s location
  3. Once identified, enter a new device name and tap SAVE

Spaces

A Space refers to specific location within an Area where ARISTA components are installed (e.g., Room 204, East Hallway, Auditorium C).

  1. Open the Project > Area you’d like to update via the ARISTA app
  2. Tap the Spaces icon in the bottom navigation bar
  3. Tap the “Create New Space” field and enter the Space’s name
  4. Tap ADD to save the new Space
  5. Tap Done
  6. The newly created Space will now display within the Project > Area

Zones

A Zone refers to specific portion of a Space (e.g., main/primary zone, secondary zone, daylight zone).

  1. Open the Project > Area > Space you’d like to update via the ARISTA app
  2. Tap the Zones icon in the bottom navigation bar
  3. Tap the “Create New Zone” field and enter the Zone’s name
  4. Tap ADD to save the new Zone
  5. The newly created Zone will now display within the Project > Area > Space

Adding Outputs to a Zone

An Output refers to the luminaire that’s being controlled by an ARISTA device. Outputs can be associated to a single Zone

  1. Open the Project > Area > Space > Zone you’d like to manage via the ARISTA app
  2. Tap the “+” to add Outputs (this will display a list of all available outputs)
  3. Select the Outputs you’d like to assign to the Zone
  4. Tap the SAVE button
  5. Tap the OK button when the “Success” window appears

Adding Inputs to a Zone

An Input refers to the electrical load being controlled by an ARISTA device. Inputs can be associated to a single Zone or multiple Zones.

  1. Open the Project > Area > Space > Zone you’d like to manage via the ARISTA app
  2. Tap the “Inputs” icon at the bottom of the screen
  3. Tap “+” to add Inputs (this will display a list of all available inputs)
  4. Select the Inputs you’d like to assign to the Zone
  5. Tap the SAVE button
  6. Tap the OK button when the “Success” window appears

Configuring Inputs/Outputs

Configuration options vary based on type of Inputs and Ouputs you’re controlling with ARISTA. You can access these settings from either the Devices within the ARISTA app or the ARISTA Controller (ALC1-R).

  1. Channel Number (“Channel 1” is default value)
  2. Light Type
    • 0-10 VDC (default value)
    • 1-10 VDC
  3. Power ON Action (the output’s setting after a power failure and restoration)
    • Restore (default value)
    • ON
    • OFF
  4. Blink Warn (Default OFF)
    • Tap toggle switch
    • Tap Blink Warn Time Box
    • Enter desired value

Zone Configuration

Open the Project > Area > Zone you’d like to manage, then tap the Outputs icon at the bottom of the screen. Within the Output page, tap the “Setting” option to make individual adjustments.

Levels

  1. Run Level (Default Value 80%)
    • Tap number to enter new value or use the “–/+” symbols to adjust
  2. Standby Level (Default Value 0%)
    • Tap number to enter new value or use the “–/+” symbols to adjust
  3. When all changes are made, tap SEND

Open the Project > Area > Zone you’d like to manage, then tap the Inputs icon at the bottom of the screen. Within the Input page, tap the “Setting” icon to make individual adjustments.

Setting the Analog Input

  1. Tap the “Type” Box to Select the Input Type
    • Disabled (Default)
    • Intermatic Light Sensor (ALC-DH)
    • Custom Light Sensor (Wired)
    • Dimmer (Wired 0-10 VDC Dimmer)

Setting Digital Input 1

  1. Tap the “Type” Box to Select the Input Type
    • ON/OFF Switch (Default)

    Note: Push button switch can be used to manually activate/deactivate controllers

    • Partial On
      • Initial press of input sets controller(s) to partial ON state
      • Second press of input sets controller(s) to Run state
      • Third press of input sets controller(s) to Standby state
    • Run
      • Initial Press sets controller to RUN state
      • Second press sets controller to STANDBY state
    • Disabled
    • Occupancy Sensor
      • Priority (toggle switch between Active High and Active Low)

      Note: Active High – Discrete sensor sets the output value to high value upon presence Active Low – Discrete sensor sets the output value to low value upon presence

Setting Digital Input 2

  1. Tap the “Type” Box to Select the Input Type
    • ON/OFF Switch
    • Disabled
    • Occupancy Sensor (Default)
      • Priority (toggle switch between Active High and Active Low)

      Note: Active High – Discrete sensor sets the output value to high value upon presence Active Low – Discrete sensor sets the output value to low value upon presence

Viewing the Info Tab

Note: The information (or Info) tab shows basic information about controller settings.

  1. Tap the “Info” Button to View the Following Controller Details:
    • Host Firmware
    • Radio Module
    • Firmware Status
      • Up-to-date
      • Update Available
    • Hardware Version
    • Manufacturing Date Code
    • Astro Lockout (Default Off)

Creating a Schedule

  1. Tap “+” Icon (This Opens the Add Event Screen)
  2. Name Event
  3. Select check box if Event is a holiday
  4. Choose Action
    • Tap Action (Pop up screen will appear with the options)
      • Specific (Set a specific Light Level)
      • Run (Will go to Run light level Setpoint)
      • Partial Run (Will go to Partial light level Setpoint)
  5. Select Light Level
    • Tap the box to enter in a value or use “+ or -” to select a value
  6. Set Date
    • Specific
      • Specific Date (e.g., Jan 1st, 2022)
    • Relative
      • Instance (e.g., Each, Last, 1st, 2nd, etc.)
      • Period (e.g., Day, Weekend, Weekday, week, Sunday, Monday, etc.)
      • Of (e.g., Year, Month, January, February, etc.)
  7. Time
    • Specific Time (e.g., 12:00 p.m.)
      • Tap Time and scroll to desired time
      • Press Done
  8. Astronomic (Sunrise/Sunset)
    • Offsets of 120 minutes before or after are available
    • Use the +/– icons for making adjustments, or tap offset value and re-enter desired value
  9. Zones
    • Select Zones
  10. Tap SAVE Button

Partial Light levels

  1. Partial On:
    • Allows user to set manual ON light % value
  1. Partial Off:
    • Allows user to set manual OFF light % value manual ON light % value
    • Allows for Manual OFF light % value to be set

Run, Partial and Standby Levels

  1. Run - This is the MAX Light level allowed
    • To change tap number to enter new value or use +/ – icons
  2. Partial - This is the light level for manual ON activation (only shown if either option above is selected)
    • To change tap number to enter new value or use +/– icons
  3. Standby - This is the light level set for manual OFF activation
    • To change tap number to enter new value or use +/– icons
  4. Tap SEND
  5. Tap “Yes” to confirm selection
  6. Tap OK on success window
  7. Tap “Back” arrow icon to return to Zone overview

Timing and Override Settings

  1. Auto Ramp Time – The time from OFF to the selected light level
    • Default value: 3 seconds
    • Tap box to adjust
  2. Auto Fade Time – The time from operating light level to OFF upon Automatic deactivation
    • Default value: 3 seconds
    • Tap box to adjust
  3. Manual Fade Time – The time from operating light level to OFF upon Manual deactivation
    • Default value: 0 seconds
    • Tap box to adjust
  4. Power ON Stagger Time – This prevents multiple controllers from instantly activating
    • Default value: 3 seconds
    • Tap box to adjust
  5. Power ON Action - Power failure and recovery
    • Restore (Default)
    • ON
    • OFF
  6. Blink Warn
    • Default value: OFF
    • Tap “Toggle” to activate
    • Tap “Minutes” box

Occupancy Mode Only (No manual switch)

Partial Light Levels

  1. Partial On:
    • Allows for Manual ON light % value to be set
  2. Partial OFF:
    • Allows for Manual OFF light % value to be set

Run / Partial / Standby Levels

  1. Run – This is the Maximum Light level allowed
    • To change tap number to enter new value or use the +/- icons
  2. Partial, this is the light level for manual ON activation (only shown if Partial On option above is selected)
    • To change tap number to enter new value or us the +/- icons
  3. Standby, this is the light level for Manual OFF activation
    • To change tap number to enter new value or use the +/- icons
  4. Tap SEND SETTINGS
  5. Tap “Yes” in Warning Box
  6. Tap “OK” on Success Window

Setting Daylight Sensor Type

  1. Closed Loop (Default Value)
  2. Open Loop
  3. Choose either Closed Loop or Open Loop
  4. Tap Done
  5. Partial ON: Default ON (Automatic ON or Manual ON will get set to Partial ON % Value)

Setting Closed Loop Light Levels

  4. Light Level refresh (Initiates new reading from sensor)

Sensor Calibration

Shows if the sensor has been calibrated

  1. Tap FC box
  2. Enter in FC Value from Light Meter
  3. Tap Send Button

Multi-Zone Applications

Using a Single Input Across Multiple Zones

Note: Please refer to the “Adding Inputs to a Zone” Section for basic programming instructions.

This system’s abilities allow for multiple inputs to be associated with different outputs.

Note: This may require that the zone be reconfigured

  1. Tap on Project
  2. Tap on Area
  3. Tap on Space Icon
  4. Tap on Zone Icon
  5. Tap on desired Zone
  6. Tap on Inputs Icon
  7. Tap + icon
  8. Tap desired Input(s) to be added

  2. If an Output is not being seen, ensure proper steps were taken to add it into the AREA

Reconfiguring a Zone

  1. Tap PROJECT that the Zone is in
  2. Tap SPACES Icon
  3. Tap SPACE that the Zone is in
  4. Tap ZONES Icon
  5. Tap Zone that needs to be reconfigured
  6. Refer to “Adding OUTPUTS and INPUTS to a ZONE
    • Add OUTPUTS
    • Add INPUTS
  7. Tap CONFIG Icon
  8. Reconfigure ZONE as necessary

Configuring Multi-Zone SPACES

To adjust OUTPUTS based on INPUTS

Note: If a zone has in input or an output added or removed, it is recommended to go back and look at the Configuration settings to ensure proper operation

Each Output can be set to respond independently to a single input or multiple inputs

Deleting/Removing Items

Use the following steps to Delete or Remove chosen items:

  1. From the PROJECT list screen, tap the project to be deleted
    • This will bring you to the AREA list screen
  2. Tap 3-dot menu icon
  3. Tap DELETE AREA Button
  4. Tap YES on Warning Box
    • Battery Operated Sensors will require a press of the Reset Button
    • Tap Yes on Buttons Pressed warning Box
  5. Tap 3 dot Menu Icon
  6. Tap Delete Project
  7. Tap Yes on Confirm Box

Start by opening the Project > Area you’d like to manage.

  1. Within the specific Area you’d like to manage, tap the “…” icon to show the Space actions menu
  2. Tap “Delete Space”
    • Press the reset button on any battery-operated sensors to refresh the device/see changes

  1. Within the specified Area, tap on the device you wish to remove
  2. Tap the “…” icon to show the device menu
  3. Tap “Delete” to delete the device
  4. Tap “Delete” once more in the alert window to confirm removal
