Channel Manager

SUMMARY:

The Channel Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and market share through electrical distribution partners, manufacturer representative agents, and key channel stakeholders. This role develops and executes channel strategies that create pull-through demand, strengthen partner relationships, and position the company as a preferred solutions provider.

You will act as the bridge between the manufacturer, rep agents, distributors, and end users, ensuring alignment across the channel while enabling partners to successfully sell and support our products.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Channel Strategy & Partner Development
  • Develop and execute a channel strategy to grow revenue through electrical distributors, rep agents, and key partners
  • Build strong relationships with:
    • Electrical distributors (branch and corporate levels)
    • Manufacturer representative agents
    • Contractor networks and installer bases
  • Identify and prioritize high-potential partners and growth opportunities

  • Demand Creation & Pull-Through Sales
    • Drive pull-through demand in collaboration with rep agents and distributors by engaging contractors, specifiers, and end users
    • Partner with agents and distributors to convert opportunities and increase share of wallet
    • Support project opportunities from specification through order fulfillment
    • Align agents and channel partners around key vertical markets (commercial, industrial, utility, etc.)

    Agent & Partner Enablement
    • Develop, coach, and support manufacturer rep agents to drive performance and market coverage
    • Train distributor sales teams, agents, and contractors on product features, applications, and differentiation
    • Lead joint sales calls with agents and distributor teams to expand influence and close opportunities
    • Ensure alignment on target accounts, product focus, and growth initiatives

    Solutions Selling & Technical Support
    • Translate product features into application-based solutions for customers
    • Provide technical guidance and support for product selection and use cases
    • Partner with agents and internal teams to address customer needs and resolve issues

    Performance Management & Execution
    • Manage channel and agent performance against revenue, margin, and growth targets
    • Track pipeline, opportunities, and partner activity through CRM tools
    • Develop account plans and execute growth initiatives with key distributors and agents

    Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Product Management to:
      • Launch new products
      • Execute promotions and campaigns
      • Align go-to-market strategies
    • Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence gathered through agents and channel partners

    Market Presence & Industry Engagement
    • Represent the company alongside rep agents at industry events, trade shows, and distributor meetings
    • Strengthen brand presence and credibility within the electrical channel


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
  • 3–7+ years of experience in channel sales, distribution management, or electrical industry sales
  • Experience working with or managing manufacturer representative agents
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution and contractor ecosystems
  • Proven ability to grow revenue through indirect sales channels
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Preferred
  • Experience with electrical controls, lighting, energy management, or HVACR products
  • Technical aptitude or background in electrical systems
