SUMMARY

Responsible for driving innovation in the design and development of products involving Internet of Things (IOT) for the residential market with an emphasis on products for use within a smart home. Collaborate with Segment Marketing Manager to create product specifications for development as well as establish priorities. Collaborate with engineering teams on product design concepts and features while driving to meet product delivery dates. Develop and maintain product roadmaps that include integration of new technologies. Has responsibilities to manage products from concept, to design, sample production, cost, mass production, support, and finally product end of life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Defines the features and requirements necessary to deliver a complete product to marketing
  • Drive innovation for the category
  • Oversee product improvement and cost reduction in assigned market segment
  • Develop cost models as input to product justification. Responsible for communication and identification of alternatives to meet cost demands
  • Subject matter expert for product segment. Keeps abreast of changes in the industry that affect product segment. Recommends potential solutions to Segment Marketing Managers
  • Develops product requirement documents
  • Actively works within Project Teams for new product development and takes leadership role in priority setting and supporting operational needs
  • Develops the strategy behind the product roadmap for assigned segment and plans collaboratively with Segment Marketing Manager and design teams.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or experience:

  • BS in Engineering or Marketing
  • Prior experience with IOT
  • Minimum of 6 years in Product Management role either in Engineering or Marketing
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in product development
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Knowledge of UL, CSA requirements
  • Experience in developing requirements for control systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
