I live near the ocean, and some aluminum ground stakes are corroding over time. How can I overcome this problem?

Aluminum sometimes does corrode in salt environments. The Light Expressions AL1150 Power Stake, with it's rugged plastic construction offers a more secure and long term mount under these types of conditions.

  • Safety & Security
Can I adjust the light level at which my photo control activates?

No. Photo Controls are factory set to operate at dusk or dawn light levels. Some models have a light shield which can be adjusted to allow early ON.

Can I install the magnetic trip alarm models SP440B or SP130B on metal doors?

We do not suggest using these models on metal doors or frames because the metal can affect the magnetic contact and cause erratic operation of the alarm.

Can the SS7C Timer be used with compact fluorescent bulbs or other specialty type lamps?

The SS7C can be used with any type of electric load within its specified ratings.

How does the random feature work on my DT17C timer?

When you choose the random mode, the timer will vary your program by plus or minus 15 minutes.

How long will my alarm sound once activated?

The alarm will sound for 60 seconds when activated.

I can not program my EJ341C. The red light will not come on solidly upon the final step of the instructions.

Make sure you are using a standard incandescent bulb.

I cannot program my SS7C or DT17C Series Timer. The instructions are not clear.

Contact us at (815) 675-7000 for assistance.

I need trippers for my mechanical timer(s). How can I get them?

Download the tripper order form here and follow the directions. The form is in a PDF format. If you need it, click on the icon below and download a free version of Acrobat Reader for your browser.

In the DT digital plug-in timer, what is the style number of the replacement batteries?

Either SR44 or LR44 is the proper battery.

My EJ341C/EJ351C Timer takes a program but loses it within hours or days of controlling my compact fluorescent bulbs.

The ST01C is recommended to work with your compact fluorescent bulbs.

My EJ343C or SS7C Timer will not work in a 3-way application.

Make sure the distance between the timer and the remote switch is no more than 30 feet of wire.

Make sure you have installed the red jumper on the remote switch between the common and top traveler terminals. If this does not correct the problem move this jumper down to the bottom traveler terminal and common.

My GN141 Good Nite Lite has dark patches in the light area. What is causing it?

The original units were not moisture sealed and high humidity will cause spotting inside the unit, due to mineral deposits. The latest version of this product is now sealed and this should no longer be a problem. Send the defective product to this address with a check or money order for $2.50 for shipping and handling.

What is a Manual Override switch used for on my timer?

The Manual Override switch is simply an ON/OFF switch. If the timer has your lights turned ON, the override switch can turn them OFF. If the timer has your lights turned OFF, the override switch can manually turn lights ON. This switch can be used at anytime and will not affect the timing program.

What is the "override switch" on my Model TN series plug-in timer and what position should it be when I set the timer up and plug it into the wall outlet?

The override switch can be used as a manual ON/OFF switch and should be set to OFF when you initially plug the timer into your wall outlet.

What is the round plastic piece that came with my EJ series timer?

A cosmetic cover for the screw on the face plate.

When I plug my lamp or appliance into the plug in the timer, what position should the ON/OFF switch on my lamp or appliance be?

Turn your lamp or appliance switch to the ON position, then plug it into the timer.

Why can't the EJ Series Timers be used with bulbs other than the standard incandescent?

Compact Fluorescent (CFL) Bulbs - These can not be used due to the electronic ballast circuit in a CFL. The ballast makes the timer think there is no bulb in the circuit and the timer will reset itself.

Energy Saver, Candelabra Style and Flood (PAR) Bulbs - These can not be used due to the lack of a fuse inside the bulb. When the filament of this bulb opens, the gas inside the bulb gets ionized forming a large current which feeds back to the timer and destroys it.

    • Surge Suppression
Can I install the IG1240RC or the EG240RC at the main breaker?

This device needs to be installed downsteam of a 15 or 20 ampere circuit breaker.

How do I file a claim under the Connected Equipment Warranty?

Call toll free 1(800)270-7227 to leave a detailed voice message for surge claims only.

What do the red and green lights mean on my surge suppressor?

For most hardwired or panelmount models, green lights indicate that power is present and the unit is operating correctly, providing protection. A red light indicates loss of power on one or more lines or a reduction or loss of protection.

For Surge Strips the lights indicate surge protection status and presence of ground.

Why does the IG1240RC, EG240RC, IG1300-2T-1C and IG1300-4T-2C whole house surge suppressors have to be wired to a 15 or 20 Amp circuit breaker?

In order to replace the units should they fail you need to have a disconnecting means.

      • Timers
I cannot program my ET70000 Series Timer. The instruction book is too difficult to decipher.

Contact us at (815) 675-7000 for assistance.

I have no power output on my EH10 or EH40 water heater timers. What's wrong?

Refer to the answer given above.

My photo control cycles ON and OFF by itself.

The connections to the red and black wires are probably reversed.

My WH21 Timer works when I manually turn my load on but the timer will not rotate.

This timer has a 240VAC motor which activates your timing dial. You must power with a double breaker which is 240VAC from your service panel. If you are powering with 120VAC you will want to use model WH11.

The light connected to my photo control stays on or off all the time. What can I do?

Check to be sure the photo control is installed and wired properly. Make sure the control is positioned correctly and not exposed to bright light sources. Reposition or use available shield to solve light problems. If the control is installed correctly and still fails to operate, the control should be replaced. Send the defective product to this address with a copy of your purchase receipt and a brief explanation of the problem.

            • 7 Day 30 Amp

              • Next Generation Time Switches
How do I update the firmware on my Next Generation Time Switch?
Download the latest firmware.  Before installing new firmware it is necessary to uninstall old firmware first.
What can I do with my Next Generation timer and the new Daylight Savings Time (DST) change?
If your Next Generation timer was manufactured before May 2002 you will have to disable the DST feature and manually change the time in the spring and fall. If your timer was manufactured between May 2002 and November 2006 there is a DST upgrade kit available to replace the EEPROM chip with the 2007 DST dates. Keep in mind that 2007 is a test year and the dates may revert back to the old dates next year. Be sure to retain the chip the kit replaces in case you need to reinstall it. If your timer was manufactured since November 2006 it has the 2007 dates already installed. If the dates revert back in 2008 you will have to change the chip next year.
